Carter Flyer – Opening Day

by Darren on March 27th, 2012 at 8:45 am

The Mets officially announced yesterday that they will be honoring Gary Carter before the game on Opening Day. By now most, if not all of the fans of The 7 Line know about our efforts to raise money for the Gary Carter Foundation.

The fans and players alike have been behind this cause and we are proud to announce that the t-shirt sales have brought in just over $6,700 so far that we will be donating to the foundation.

The flyer you see above is set to 8.5 x 11. We encourage you to print it out to bring with you to the game. The Carter family will be a part of a pre game ceremony and they will be throwing out the first pitch. I feel it would be a nice way to show our support from the stands.

To print:

Click the image above. Once it opens click on it again to make sure you get the full size. It should then enlarge to the standard paper size of 8.5 x 11. If you are on a PC right click your mouse and save it to your desktop. On a Mac just drag it to your desktop. Then find the file on your desktop and press print. Pretty simple!

Feel free to bring multiple copies for your section, but we encourage you to not litter on the Citi Field property! Be respectful and bring it home with you after the game. We don’t want to add to the already tough job the cleaning crew has after a busy game like Opening Day.

RIP KID

Video / Photo: LF Party Deck and blue walls

by Darren on March 16th, 2012 at 4:15 pm

Took a trip to Citi Field today to lock in our LF Party Deck game. We ended up deciding on Friday May 25th and are limiting it to just 25 tickets. ACT NOW if you want to be a part of this event.

This section is brand new for 2012 and the $150 price includes the ticket to the game, all you can eat/drink and a special event t-shirt from us. GET A TICKET NOW HERE!

This is not confirmed yet but I’ve been told that the beer taps “might” be manned by the fans themselves which is pretty cool.

Opening day is right around the corner. Expectations are low but the die hards never quit. SEEYA AT CITI! Keep Calm and Cheer On! LGM!

LF Deck Party!

by Darren on March 15th, 2012 at 10:45 am

I didn’t have enough time to lock down a game for our LF Party Deck outing before leaving for spring training and now only a few dates are left.

If you haven’t heard about the LF Deck, which has been dubbed “Read The Apple Deck” by some fans, it’s the new area that’s been added since the walls have been pushed in. It’s a private area for our group (100 tickets max) that will include the ticket to the game, food, beers and a special event t-shirt from us.

I’m picturing it to be like the Shea Stadium Picnic area but a hell of a lot nicer with all you can drink beer.

For the low price of $125 ($150 if we get the “classic” game) you can’t really beat that. When you add up the food, beers and ticket to a normal game you already know how expensive that is. Adding an all you can eat/drink option makes it much more worth it.

IF YOU PLAN ON COMING I’d like to know which date you’d attend. Please only comment if you are planning to buy a ticket. I need to lay the money out in advance and I don’t want to get stuck with tickets.

AVAILABLE GAMES:

4/20 Fri 7:10pm against the Giants – Value price $125 per ticket

4/21 Sat 1:10pm against the Giants – Classic price $150 per ticket

5/25 Fri 7:10pm against the Padres – Value price $125 per ticket

COMMENT BELOW! I’ll check the feedback and lock down the date tomorrow morning. Tickets will go up for sale on our webstore immediately after that and will be mailed to you before the game with your t-shirt.

PSL: I MADE IT!

by Darren on February 29th, 2012 at 4:55 pm

Well.. 1,206 miles later.. I MADE IT!

I’ll tell ya driving alone isn’t nearly as bad when you have thousands of people on Twitter and Facebook keeping you company. If you follow me or “like” the Facebook page you already knew I was on my way. I apologize for the excessive updates but it kept my mind off the hundreds of miles I had ahead of me.

I had roughly 19 hours of drive time to ponder a few things. What are my expectations for this trip? Why the hell am I driving to Florida for a team that everyone is labeling “underdogs”? Will Johan (or enter any name here) stay healthy?

First and foremost I am a die hard fan so coming to Spring Training was something I’ve always wanted to check off my to do list. My grandparents attended in the 80′s and since I was little I’ve had visions of being one of those fanatics traveling down South to watch my favorite ball club. I guess I have shades of Jimmy Fallon from the movie “Fever Pitch” … minus the Red Sox sheets, baseball glove phone and shower curtain of course.

For those that don’t know The 7 Line isn’t just a hobby…. it’s my life.  Everything I do for the brand from printing shirts to tweeting is considered “work” although it’s really just something fun that I am wholeheartedly thankful to call my job. So coming down here is basically a business trip and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I have all you Mets fans out there to thank for putting me in this position. When I made my first shirt for The 7 Line in Sept 2009 I would have never dreamt that 2.5 later I would be in a hotel room in Port Saint Lucie writing this blog post. So THANK YOU!

The above photo was shot at mile marker 8 on I-95 just before I passed in to Florida. Another order of business on this trip is to deliver that poster board to the Gary Carter Foundation in West Palm Beach. I’m donating the proceeds of the RIP KID shirts to them and I asked the fans who attended the impromptu memorial service at Citi Field a couple weeks ago to sign that print out of the t-shirt design. I’m not sure when I’m heading down there yet, but it will get done for sure before I leave town.

In every sport there is always an “if” factor before the season starts. Look at our cast of characters…. why can’t they all have ON seasons? It’s not “likely” but it CAN happen. I have faith in our guys although Wilpon want’s them to wear UNDERDOG t-shirts. Which by the way, I will not have any part in parodying…. so you guys can stop e-mailing haha.

HEALTH is the factor as it is every year. With my fingers and toes crossed the DL stints will be few and far between and the guys in orange and blue have what it takes to shock the world. The rotation of Santana (when ready), Dickey, Pelf, Niese and Gee.. it COULD happen!

I brought down hundreds of t-shirts and calendars so if you are in town come by the Holiday Inn next Wed. night 3/7 from 5-9pm. I rented out their meeting room and you’re all invited to swing by. I’ll have shirts for sale and everyone who shows up will get a free calendar. Oh yea, and they’ll be FREE BEER and FOOD! Read more about that HERE.

So lastly.. I am really excited to be here and am looking forward to hitting the ball park tomorrow to watch practice and soak in some rays. This Irish boy gotta work on his sunburn!

And with that KEEP CALM AND CHEER ON! LGM 2012!

Photos: Remembering Carter

by Darren on February 17th, 2012 at 9:00 pm

Here are some photos from tonight at Citi Field. I feel weird saying “thank you for coming” because this wasn’t something put on for me. I wanted to bridge the gap between fans and used The 7 Line’s reach to connect us all. Instead, to those who showed up… thank you for being a part of it.

Even with short notice I’d say at least 50 people came by to pay their respects to Gary. We stood right around home plate where “The Kid” himself spent the majority of his time. Candles lined the base line from home plate all the way around to each of the plaques and I think that gave the night a nice touch. Candle light flickering where Gary brought so much to the game… always fighting with a contagious smile that energized the fan base.

I didn’t read them all yet but one message on the poster board stood out to me:

“Thanks for refusing to make the last out.

LGM.

-Sean S.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Fought until the end. Sad to see him go but glad his pain is over.

RIP KID

TONIGHT: Remembering Gary Carter

by Darren on February 17th, 2012 at 9:00 am

It’s crazy how many peoples lives can be touched by a man they’ve never met. As a fan since birth in 1980 Gary became a Met just as I was old enough to follow the sport. I never met Gary, but like most of you the stories told by others tell you how he lived his life as a stand up man on and more importantly off the field.

After reading on twitter and facebook that some fans would like to stop by Citi Field to pay their respects, I decided to take the initiative to contact the Mets to try and coordinate something. I told them we are planning to show up at 7pm and it would be nice of them to open one of the gates to allow fans who are driving to park. I haven’t gotten a confirmed YES yet but we are showing up either way. If you are taking the 7 train you can walk right in near the apple.

If you’d like to meet up at the site of his first game as a Met we’ll be there at 7pm. If you are driving and the gates aren’t open you can park for free under the highway on the north side of the stadium.

I’m personally bringing a candle but feel free to do anything you feel fitting. SPREAD THE WORD.

RIP KID.

Mets: Party Deck Menu Released

by Darren on February 8th, 2012 at 9:30 am

My ticket dude Chris L. just e-mailed over this Party Deck package information. I obviously photoshopped it a bit to include our prices, logo and text.

The minimum tickets I have to buy to lock down a date is 25. The deck does hold 100 people so I can get more tickets as needed once the initial 25 are gone.

The price to me is slightly cheaper but I had to factor in the service charge, tax, t-shirt and most importantly TIP. I’ve worked many jobs based strictly on tips and I’d never want to have our party look like a bunch of cheap-o’s.

After paying for your package you will not be responsible for dropping another dime.

The dates I am looking at:

Value $125: Friday 7pm, April 20th against the Giants.

Classic $150: Saturday 1pm, April 7th against the Braves. Saturday 1pm, April 21st against the Giants. Monday May 28th. (Memorial Day) 1pm, against the Phillies.

Premium $175: Saturday night 7pm, June 16th against the Reds.

If you’re interested in joining us please comment on this post with the date you’d like to attend. I will lock down a date by this weekend if we have enough interest.
