I’m super jealous of this photo. I have some from my youth at Shea but nothing quite this young. Photos have always been popular, but these days with every human owning a cell phone, kids are really getting a fully documented life whether they know it or not. I am still pissed that my parents retired the old film super 8 camera after my sister was born. They captured some great footage of her on that old thing, but I got shafted. My earliest video opportunity was from the over the shoulder dinosaur VHS camera my uncle bought in like 1984… how quickly technology has evolved. Thanks to Karla Velasquez for e-mailing us these photos and her story.
“I would like to submit attached picture of my nephew, Dominic, who was 16 months old at the time the picture was taken. We had no idea that the Mets would play their last season at Shea just 5 years later.Dominic is now 9 years old and plays 2nd base and shortstop for his little league team in Georgia, where he now lives (picture attached was of when he was on the “Mets” two year ago).Baseball is in Dominic’s blood and his dream is to someday play in the majors for the his favortie team, the New York Mets.Hope you select the Shea picture as one of your “Fan Photos” soon.Love your line, keep up the good work and best of luck to The 7 Line in 2012 and many years to come.Thank you,Karla Velasquez”
Keep it up Dominic! THINK BIG! DREAM BIG! YOU CAN DO IT! LGM!

I met Megan and her husband Kenny a couple times this past season and then coincidently wound up sitting near them this past 9/11 at Citi Field for the unfortunate extra innings loss.
I’m sure many would be husbands propose this idea for their wedding photos but get shot down… glad that Megan is a true sport! See you guys at Citi this year!
“The first photo is of my Husband, Kenny and I on our wedding day in August 2010. When we were planning our wedding we were trying to figure out where the best place to take our wedding photos would be. We wanted something different and I believe it was my mom who said Citi Field. We both loved the idea the minute we heard it and even stuck with it after finding out the Mets would be playing a home game that day. I am so glad we made this decision! I have thousands of unique memorable shots of a place that my Husband and I both love and it was like the Mets and the fans were apart of our special day. The second shot just seemed appropriate to send to you. It is the entire bridal party scattered on the steps leading up to the 7 line. It was a totally random idea for a picture that turned out to be one of the BEST of an amazing day! Note to all future brides, don’t knock the idea of wedding pictures at your favorite stadium, then end results re unique gorgeous pictures! Citi Field and the Mets made a great backdrop for our special day!

This is my buddy Marino and his beautiful daughter Dalia. Marino and his brother Nicolas were two of the eight original members of The 7 Line army. We were introduced through a mutual friend back around 2005 and bonded over beer, girls and our love for the Mets.
They attended the last game of 2009 with us and have supported hard ever since. That was the first time we wore our shirts from The 7 Line to a game and I’m happy they were a part of the experience. The brand officially took off April of the next year.
Marino has blogged for us on occasion but of course has had his hands full lately. Hopefully he’s interested in contributing more this season. Follow him on Twitter @JameRockT7L
His brother Nicolas submitted the photo and hit up Marino for some words…
“I couldn’t wait for the moment to introduce my gorgeous daughter to the team that I love from the borough that I love.
Ever since we found out my wife was expecting, I always thought about the day when I can take my daughter to her first Mets game at Citi Field (she already has an orange and blue outfit that she can wear when that day comes).
Until then I could only play in my head and imagine how happy I’ll be the day of that game. But some of that became a little bit more real when she was showered with a whole bunch of Mets gear for her first Christmas. That’s when it sank in that she WILL be a Mets fan.
That day at the stadium will be one of the happiest moments of my life and I hope it’s not too long until I can celebrate with her a championship in Queens.”
I love stories like this. It’s not like she really had a choice, Marino is a legitimate fanatic. Let’s just hope and pray that shes doesn’t rebel to the DARKSIDE!
My sincere congratulations to Marino and his wife Crystal. Your baby is beautiful. BLESSINGS!

This is some dedication! I’ve heard of others naming their children Shea (Larry “Chipper” Jones for instance) but haven’t seen a family go to this length to ensure their first born was a Met fan before coming out of the womb. I hope little Shea turns into a huge fanatic! She obviously has great parents leading her in the right direction. Loyal to orange and blue in the good and bad…. for Shea’s future I hope the team rights this sinking ship we all torture ourselves with.
“I love that you’re doing fan pics. I just wanted to submit a few, we’re such diehard Mets fans that our wedding was Mets themed and we named our first daughter Shea. I was desperate to name our second daughter Carter but my husband talked me out of it. Anyway, all the way from Cincinnati here are a few pictures of our Mets Fandom.
Thanks so much,
Charity and John.”

HAPPY HOLIDAY!
I recognize this photo from one of our old Facebook ticket giveaway contests, but didn’t realize it was our buddy Nick. It might be the buzz cut he was sporting back in 2005. I wish the Mets did more fun things like this before the game, giving a slight hockey intermission feel to the ballpark. It might even convince fans to have one less beer in McFaddens to get to their seat by the national anthem. Thanks for sharing Nick!
“I have been very fortunate over the years to have experienced some once in a lifetime moments as a Met fan. Being on the field, in the dugout, meeting some all time greats etc… My all time favorite photo and moment was when I won a mid season contest at Shea in 2005. I answered all the baseball trivia correctly and unbeknownst to me I was then entered into a lottery for a million dollar pitch. They notified me two days before the final season game to appear at Shea to throw a “strike” for a million dollars. Not much time to prepare! What I didn’t know was the “strike” meant getting that 3 1/2 inch ball in a 4 inch square hole. The end result did not yield the million bucks but instead truly a memorable moment. I missed it by about 6 inches and out of the four contestants was the only one to hit the board and come within inches. I won some great prizes, flat screen tv, a game used base and got an opportunity to see Mike Piazza on his last day as a Met and get one of his game used bats. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The greatest gifts of all were sharing the day with my brother as my guest and this picture taken by the team photographer. Truly a phenomenal experience.
- Nick”
If you made the pitch today they’d offer you a chance at that minority stake that’s been all the buzz. You’d just need to come up with the other $19,000,000 for the AMAZIN’ perks.

This is a great story. I guess baseball really gets a girl in the mood! Take notes boys, bring your girls to a baseball game… you may even get lucky!
“This is one of my favorite pictures of my husband with our son, although I would not have said that the day it was taken. This is my husband Justin, and our first-born and only son, Gabriel. Justin is a Local 3 Electrician and after our son was born, I was lucky to have him home, on furlough, for seven weeks. But, less than three weeks after Gabriel’s arrival, Justin informed me that he was going to go to the Mets 2010 Opening Day at Citifield. I was a brand new mom and in a total panic about being home alone with our child! But, I pulled myself together, just enough, to dress our tiny baby up in a too-large Mets onesie, for this photo op with his Mets loving Daddy. And, since Gabriel was intentionally conceived (a girl knows when is when) the night my husband took me for my first visit to Citi, in June 2009, who was I to say no? P.S. – the Mets beat Tampa the night our son was conceived, and they beat Florida the day this picture was taken…the day my husband convinced me that I would be “just fine” on my own as a Mom.-Paula MacDonald Ferguson”

“Hey man,
I’ve been going to mets games with my cousin Richard here for about 15 years now. We’ve witness a few highs, but also witnessed many many lows like every other year except for ’99, 2000 & ’06. One day you’ll be able to make a shirt that reads, Mets 20_ _ World Champions! I just hope I’m alive to see it, and your alive to make it. LGM!
Dan from Ridgewood Queens”
Thanks for the submission Dan! Does your cousin Richard have an arm like Johan of the Twins days? or just work as his stunt double?

I received an e-mail from Mets fan Jason R. Sheppard. He saw our Photo Of The Day posts and wanted to share one of his own. I will let Jason explain this one to you in his own words….
“Just wanted to submit this photo, or at the very least share it. I took this in the summer of ’08 when I was just getting into photography. I knew Shea would be gone soon and wanted to take some photos to remember it, honor it, etc. Well my friend Diana G. agreed to help me out and we headed out to Shea and snapped some shots. Most in retrospect turned out looking like just random shots with her standing around the stadium. But this particular photo stood out for me. While I feel I have grown leaps and bounds as a photog since. I definitely will always have a strong love for how this one turned out, with that old subway Shea sign. Feel free to share this photo on your site, or just to take a look for yourself is cool too. Just happy to share it with another diehard Met fan and tell a quick story. I am definitely a big supporter of your work and will continue to do so. Anyhow here is the photo and I included a link to my current photography site which is horror based. Full of women and blood. Hope you enjoy both and thanks for your shirts and your time.
Sincerely,
Jason R. Sheppard”
Thank you Jason! I appreciate you taking the time to send that to me. I am happy to post it. Check out Jason’s website HERE.
If you’d like to submit your own photos send them to darren@the7line.com and include your name and brief story about your photo. I can’t promise to post them ALL but will pick out the most interesting ones for use on this blog. THANKS!
