Darth Dickey Posters

by Darren on October 3rd, 2011 at 9:15 am

Our Darth Dickey posters are now for sale!

I originally just made one for myself and brought a few to the dudes over at the MLB Fan Cave. Dickey ended up liking it and I gave him the one I mounted for Star Wars night at Citi Field.

With R.A.’s approval these are now available for sale along with the matching t-shirts.

Jump on over to the webstore and pick one up HERE. A portion of each shirt and poster sold goes towards the Kilimanjaro Outreach charity.

Photos: GordonDonovan.com

by Darren on September 22nd, 2011 at 9:47 am

I met Gordon Donovan earlier in the season during the first “Don’t Trade Reyes” rally on the Shea Bridge. Lots has happened since that night and Gordon has been nice enough to send over a variety of shots that he’s taken of me and a few of my signs throughout the season. I love this photo. The fans came out in droves and we had a great time cheering on the player we’ve all grown to love over the years. Now with the last week of baseball upon us we may be watching Jose’s last days as a Met. Fingers crossed he’ll be back.

Think what you want about my tactics or “negative” signs but one thing you can’t deny is that they have grabbed attention of the fan base, media, players and ownership. I spoke to a player off the record recently, and he said that he and some of his teammates “loved” the MRI sign earlier this season. They even went as far to point it out to Ray Ramirez (head athletic trainer) every time I stood up with it. “We got a crack out of that one!” Not sure if Gordan has a shot of that sign, but you can type: leading the league in MRIs in Google and plenty of links will pop up.

This one was more recent. I didn’t know anyone got a shot of it but Gordon must have broke out the long lens when I wasn’t looking. This was the night the Einhorn deal fell through. Clearly Cuban isn’t buying the Mets but it was a joke that most people got.

Thanks for everything Gordon! I recommend you guys check out his website. Great shots to keep your eyes busy. Seeya at Citi!

Photo: Irene, Taking The Citi By Storm (Reuters)

by Darren on August 27th, 2011 at 1:21 am

Reuters just posted this photo from tonight’s game at Citi! Ray from The Crazy Mets Fan posted the idea on our Facebook page and I whipped up the sign quickly before heading out to Citi.

I think the majority of New Yorkers are over-reacting about the approaching Hurricane, but  I understand and agree with the actions being taken.

This weekends games have been canceled and tomorrow NYC and parts of Jersey are completely shut down.

Hope all of you guys stay safe!

Video: Mets vs Phillies fans

by Darren on August 23rd, 2011 at 8:04 am

There’s times in every sport when you despise the other teams fans. 9 times out of 10 you don’t HATE the opponents but it’s sports and sports brew rivalries.

Sure, a Phillies fan might puke on you, a Yankee fan might rob you and a Dodger fan might jump you into a coma but they aren’t ALL bad. Right?

I’m not quite sure what to think of this video. I have no idea what the sign said but also question Ed Hardy’s loyalty to the team. Not everyone wears Orange and Blue to the ballgames but I feel like this action was brought upon by the sudden urge to impress his chick…. not because he has such a burning love for the Mets.

Your thoughts in the comments area….

TONIGHT! PLEASE STAY JOSE!

by Darren on August 19th, 2011 at 9:00 am

Tonight at Citi Field! The PLEASE STAY JOSE RALLY! We are meeting up at 6pm inside McFaddens for an adult beverage power hour then heading up to the Shea Bridge for the whole game. If you made a sign, bring it. If you didn’t, come anyway for a great time with other fans like yourself! Jose isn’t playing but we’re having a party on the Shea Bridge.

MY ONLY REQUEST. PLEASE KEEP AN OPEN PATH FOR FANS TRYING TO CROSS. BE RESPECTFUL! THANK YOU!

Watch this video and picture it being multiplied by a hundred + fans. That is the goal of the Citi Field Shea Hooligan crew and outings like this can only help their vision to get a supporters section at Citi Field. Think of it as a spot where we can all sit together, having a good time without bothering other fans who like to sit on their hands. “Coach” of the crew altered the lyrics for tonight.. study it, learn it and meet us tonight!

Leading The League In MRI’s

by Darren on August 9th, 2011 at 3:00 pm

After losing both Reyes and Murphy to injury on Sunday and Johan having problems with his healing arm, making a sign about the DL seemed fitting. It’s become a trend for most of the Mets to be on the disabled list. Reyes, Wright, Santana, Davis, Murphy, Bay, Pagan, Young… the list goes on. The past three seasons have been plagued with injury and it’s almost been accepted since it’s so common.

Terry Collins was given the task of trying to make things work around here. With all the cards against him before game 1 of the season even approached, he’s done what he can with this group of guys to be a .500 ball club. That’s more than what everyone expected.

We all thought that there was a glimmer of hope if the Mets could have been in better shape before the Braves series. After losing 2 of 3 and dropping to 9 games out of the wild card the hopes for a playoff run are slim to none. It’s possible but don’t bet the bank on it.

Yesterday I posted a few status updates on Facebook and Tweets about the topic and our fans bounced ideas and thoughts back and forth about the injuries. I was originally thinking of a black cloud over the word FLUSHING. Anthony Campanella wrote about the MRIs and I thought that was hilarious. That was the start of the sign. Added 2009-2011 and some of the #’s of injured players underneath and I was off to the game.

The fans and employees at Citi were lovin’ it as was the media. I think SNY has been avoiding me lately but YAHOOCBSESPNDAILY NEWS and NY TIMES all ran the photo along with a story about the teams injuries.

The stands are starting to become bare and it’s only going to get worse once the summer comes to a close. This team has heart and it’s great to see them fight their way back for W’s. Last nights walk off for Duda was awesome and I am glad that I was there to see it. The Buffalo Soldiers are here to play and show what they got. Bay is starting to swing a hot bat again and I expect some interesting baseball for the next month and a half.

SEE YOU AT CITI!

Huge shout out to our fan Victorio for getting his sign up on the AP website! Hit buddy Peter gets the assist for giving a hand.

This shot is from Friday nights game in DC as seen here. Jose loved the sign, pointed and smiled the first time it went up and gave head nods throughout the game.

Good job guys! Free shirt getting mailed tomorrow!

If you are going to a game soon and want some free shirts get your sign shown somewhere with THE 7 LINE visible and I’ll hook ya up.

LGM! PLEASE STAY JOSE! GET YOUR SHIRT HERE!
