TOM SEAVER STATUE CONSTRUCTION?!?!?

TOM SEAVER STATUE CONSTRUCTION?!?!?

Our buddy, Mets fan, and eye in the sky for WCBS 880 Tom Kaminsky, posted these aerial photos from outside Citi Field this morning.

Is this the future home for the Tom Seaver statue?!?!

You can see in the photo below that those planters have always been outside the ballpark. This was taken before the HR Apple was moved.

You might remember that someone had the bright idea to place the HR Apple where basically nobody went. It was initially hidden back behind the Bullpen Entrance when Citi Field was first built.

I don't ever remember the plants and foliage being totally removed from the other planters during the winter months, but that might be unrelated.

A closer look at one of them does raise some questions though. Either it's super convenient timing that this particular planter, dead center to the building needed a repair, OR this could be the beginning of the soon to be Tom Seaver statue. That line in the center does look like it could be a level area for the base. Maybe?

We do know the Tom Seaver statue is finally coming, and it's LONG overdue. Steve Cohen said the statue would be unveiled at the start of the 2021 season, so it would make sense for them to be preparing a home for it.

Opening Day is set to hit Citi Field on April 8th. Hopefully the statue, Tom's family, you, and I are there as well.
