GARY CARTER RIP

by 2 February 16, 2012 0 Comments

By now most of you have heard the news about Gary Carter. His battle with brain cancer ended today and if you believe in heaven he is surely on his way. Right as I found out the song "Knocking on Heavens Door" came on and I have no doubt in my mind that it was a sign. Gary fought until the end and although it's sad to see him go I am at least happy his pain is over. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and colleagues at the Gary Carter Foundation. The battle is over but his memory will live on forever. This past summer Kerel from OnTheBlack and I released t-shirts with the profits going to the Gary Carter Foundation. Together we raised close to $3,000 for their charity and it was our pleasure to organize something for such a great cause. After hearing that Gary's tumors had worsened and were inoperable I designed the simple tear graphic you see here. I e-mailed it to the foundation and they agreed that it was a very fitting design. Jessica from the foundation just e-mailed me with this statement:
"People like Darren and his company The 7 Line are few and far between.  Many fans have asked how they can give back and show support for Gary and his family during this difficult time. The 7 Line has graciously committed to donate proceeds from the sales of shirts honoring our friend, Gary Carter, to the foundation bearing his name. The Gary Carter Foundation offers its sincerest gratitude to The 7 Line and will work to ensure these funds are always used in accordance with Gary's vision and his commitment for helping those in need."
The shirt is now up as a pre-sale until at least March 1st. We expect the response will be overwhelming and would like to gauge how many to make before going to print. Click HERE to pick one up. RIP KID.

Thank you, Mets fans!

Despite the ending, I had such a fun season. Thanks for being a part of it with me either at Citi Field, on the road, or at the Playwright. I met so many new fans this year. Not new to the Mets, but new to hanging with T7LA. It was a great time. Every game new faces would show up, and that's always encouraged. I know it's tough for some people to throw themselves in to a new situation, but I promise we don't bite. One of my favorite things about The 7 Line Army is watching strong friendships form from it.
