I had the pleasure of being invited to the ballpark yesterday for a tasting of the Polar Burger from the new Alonso's Arctic Grill at Citi Field.
I unfortunately wasn't able to make it, but still took part in the zoom call with other invitees.
Similar to Keith Hernandez's Grill back in the day (the Mex Burger came with a Tootsie Roll Pop), Pete is now the proud father of his own ballpark burger.
Pete made a point to say how much he cares about sustainability, and carefully worked with the Citi Field Chef's on building his burger with all local ingredients.
The Alonso Arctic Grill will open this Friday night, May 7th, and is located behind section 102 in right field, just steps from the Shea Bridge.
Polar Burger:
Pat LaFrieda’s Black Truffle Blended Burger Patty, NY Maple Spiced Caramelized Onions, Smoked Gouda Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Claw Sauce, Fresh Baked Brioche Bun
Arctic Onions on the side:
Polar Spiced Shaved Vidalia Onions, Claw Sauce
I gave up meat a few years ago, so asked if they'd be able to swap out the Pat LaFrieda burger for a veggie option. Senior Executive Chef Jason Eksterowicz said subbing for a Beyond Burger wouldn't be a problem.
I had heard Donnie Stevenson was also a vegetarian, but Pete was quick to shoot that down.
If you're looking for something new to nosh on at the ballpark, hit up the Alonso Arctic Grill during your next trip to Citi.
Comments will be approved before showing up.
We hope you'll join us for the 2nd annual T7L7K! The inaugural event far exceeded our expectations and we know 2025 will be even greater. Run (or walk) with us through Flushing Meadows Corona Park, up to the Shea Stadium base paths, and back.
