Yup! It's just 4 games, and I'm drinking the kool aid. Let's be honest though, when am I not? I learned absolutely nothing from last year's 11-1 start, and I'm all in on believing the Mets got something cooking here.
One of biggest storylines in this early season has been Pete Alonso this, and Pete Alonso that. And rightfully so. Dude has been killing it, and launched his first big league bombski Monday night. A 444 foot 3-run shot to no man's land in Miami.

When it wasn't yet solidified that Pete would be called up for Opening Day, it seemed like a line in the sand was drawn for some fans. Like if you were pulling for Pete, you couldn't be also rooting for Dom. And vice versa. For me personally it was a tough spot. I'm all in on Pete, but I'm also team Dom. I want them both to succeed and be big parts of this team. But unless Manfred pulls some more weird shit, there can only be one dude playing 1B at a time.
While Pete has been getting the starts so far, they've both been able to produce and contribute. Dom has been solid off the bench, and helped set the table last night for Pete to do his thing for those insurance runs in the 9th.

Yea, it's early, but the best part is that these guys are Team Mets, and at least on the surface they didn't let the 1B competition get between them as teammates. They seem genuinely happy for each other, and that's what good teams need. A lot of "me" guys in this sport, and at least for now, they are "us" guys.

Dom is getting the start tonight, and it's nice to know that Pete can still come in off the bench to send one to Cuba.
LGM!
We'll be spending Opening Weekend in Houston! Hopefully you'll be one of the 1,300 Mets fans kicking the season off with us in Texas! The Astros didn't have enough availability to fit us for Opening Day, so we locked up 1,300 tickets to game 2 of the season on March 29th.
