I've been slacking BIG TIME on this, but it's not too late to join The 7 Line Army team on Saturday March 3rd in Port Washington. This is the 14th annual "Freezin' For A Reason" Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics. I took the dip in Long Beach on Super Bowl Sunday a few times, but this will be my first in Port Washington.
We were contacted by a member of The 7 Line Army who is helping organize the event, and I jumped at the chance to say yes. I didn't commit nearly as much time as I had hoped to recruit other members, or to raise money, but we still have enough time to get this going. Please join if you can.
This plunge is to raise money for the athletes of the Special Olympics New York. 68,547 athletes train and compete year-round in 22 Olympics-style sports. The athletes and their families or caregivers are never charged to participate, and it costs $400 to support training and competition for one athlete for one sports season.
I aimed high and set the goal at 100 members for our team. Right now it's at a whopping.... drum roll... 4.
If you can find it in your heart to join the plunge, I'd love to have you on the team. Sure, it's cold, but it's for a great cause, and it's somehow a really fun time even if you hate the cold.
Dippers get creative, and the day turns in to a really fun party. Costumes, themes, tailgating, the whole 9. Have fun with it.
If you can't commit to the plunge, but would still like to help, you can still donate to the cause.
Comments will be approved before showing up.
Pick one Mets game per week during the entire 2025 Mets season and run or walk during it from the first pitch until the final out. Challenge yourself!
Meet up with The 7 Line Army at Pitch 25 before heading in to the game on March 29th! This venue is a couple block from the ballpark and they've put together an amazin' deal for our crew.
This will be our 3rd trip over to Pittsburgh, and we hope you'll be able to join us! The ballpark is beautiful, the surrounding area is a great time, and we can't wait to cheer with you as the Mets take on the Pirates at PNC Park on June 28th.
