Wednesday marked the eight year anniversary of the final home game of 2009.
Check us out looking like Vinny Chase and his entourage. Just swap out Sunset Blvd for Roosevelt Ave.
It was the inaugural season of the new park, and the year ended with an identical record as this past season: an underwhelming 70-92.
This was also the first day I ever sold a shirt at a game. Way before the MLB license or a kiosk in the ballpark was even a thought, I was out there hustling. From the start, the whole idea was to find a way to make some extra scratch to hit more Mets games. I never expected it to be a full-time gig.
All of my friends were rocking them, and I brought some extras to the tailgate. The guy next to us thought the "I Survived" shirt was pretty cool, and the rest is history. It's been full throttle ever since.
A lot has changed in eight years. Employees, warehouse, MLB license, wife, New Era deal, kid, mortgage, yada yada yada. But, a lot has stayed consistent, too. Shoe was my best man at my wedding, and I still cheer with Marino and Nic from time to time. It's all about your roots.
Looking forward to seeing where T7L is in the next eight years. If the ride is anything like the last, it'll be fun, just hopefully with a lot more winning. Please.
Mets Photo Of The Day is a daily thing. Check out the archive.
Your eyes do not deceive you, we don't have any available Mets 2024 Postseason merch. It's not that we don't have designs ready to go, we just aren't allowed to release them for another 2 weeks. Fanatics gets an exclusive 2 week window on licensed merch.
