This is one of my favorite days of the year. The new schedule was released today, and I already hit up my contacts at the potential road teams (shoutie to the Royals for getting back to me already).
I'm still undecided about my approach for the home games, but my target is all but set on the road ones. More on that soon.
We've been to all but two NL ballparks now with the crew. I hit Cincy in 2009 for Opening Day, but T7LA is yet to be there as a group. Dodger Stadium is the only other National League park we've yet to invade. LA was in the hopeful crosshairs, but it just doesn't land on a weekend in 2019. That's now atop the bucket list for 2020.
So without further ado..... here's what I'm thinking....
CHICAGO: June 22nd at Wrigley Field. This will be a repeat ballpark for T7LA. Back in 2013, this was our very first away game, and it set the tone for all that came after for us. Wrigleyville is incredible, and the ballpark speaks for itself. Can't wait for this one.
KANSAS CITY: August 17th at Kauffman Stadium. A rematch of the 2015 WS rivals. The Mets did open up the 2016 season in KC, but it was super tough for us to lock up tickets. We need wide open sections, and that just wasn't possible after they took home the trophy. KC is pretty well known for their tailgating and BBQ. This should be a pretty epic one.
CINCINATTI: September 21st at Great American Ballpark. Host to the 2015 ASG, and later on in the season home of the Mets 2015 NL East clinch. Beautiful ballpark and really fun city.
WASHINGTON DC: The only match up of the year that lands on a Saturday is March 30th. I think our best bet is to pick one of the weekday games at the end of the season, so we don't potentially run in to the same problems (snow out for no snow) we had this year. I'd say we pick one of the September games, and hope it's worth something. That series lands on September 2-4th.
