There are many books out about the Mets. Stories about the team, franchise and history can be found in many publications and all over the internet.
The photo on the mock up cover above was shot by my mother back in the late 80's. It's of myself and my cousin Kevin Doran. I've personally been a fan since birth and have always been intrigued by the stories of others fandom and how they started to be such die hards of the Mets.
I am not much of a reader, or writer for that matter, so me releasing a book seems like a bit of a stretch. My idea would be a different twist on previous Mets books. This would be from a fans perspective. It would feature some of my photos and stories mixed in with those submitted by fans.
I'd like to jam these pages with photos from every era of this team. Were you around in the early years? Better yet did you have access to a camera? I'd love to share your stories. Did you party with the bad boys in 1986? Have photos you've been sitting on that nobody has ever seen? Go to the WS parade? Were you at the 9.21.01 game at Shea Stadium? Any life changing experience that you'd share would be perfect for this book.
I'd like this book to be a walk through every era of the teams existence from a fans perspective. The early years will be harder to document, but I know there are stories and photos out there that other fans would love to hear about and see.
The books title "LOYAL: Fans stories of success, failure, cheers and tears" is a work in progress, but that seems to sum up this fan base pretty well. We stick through the good times and bad all while building up our loyalty and dedication.
If you'd like to be a part of this project I'd love to hear from you. E-mail The7Line@gmail.com with the subject title LOYAL BOOK.
