The Mets pulled off a nail-biting win last night, holding on to a 6-5 victory. With a one-run lead and runners on first and second in the ninth, Amed Rosario snagged a line drive and was able to double the runner off second to put it in the books.
It’s never easy, but a win’s a win. This was a game against the lowly Marlins in April. No big deal, right?! Well, don’t tell that to Gary Cohen…

SNY’s booth cam captured Cohen’s reaction the moment the double play occurred and I’m so happy they did. Cohen raised his hands in jubilation when the game was secured. I can’t get enough of this. Baseball is a grinddddd. 162 games is a long season. It’s Gary, Keith and Ron that keep us coming back as much as the guys in uniform.
Unlike Keith and Ron, Gary has been going through each and every agonizing season since birth as a fan like the rest of us. He’s your friend that made good on his passion and hasn’t taken his job for granted for a single day. Despite being the Mets play-by-play man, Cohen is still that fan sitting in the upper deck at heart.
His reaction Tuesday night was one that Mets fans did collectively upon the ballgame ending. It's kind of cool knowing Gary is reacting the same way as the rest of us.
If Gary is getting this excited for April action, I can’t wait to see what level he takes it to when this team is in the midst of a pennant race. Kudos to SNY for sharing this and keeping that cam rolling all game long. The second-screen experience is all the rage these days. There’s no doubt that fans far and wide would stream Gary, Keith and Ron while watching the game simultaneously. I can’t get enough of this trio and would anxiously await "live" social alerts from the booth if that were to ever occur.
Cohen-Hernandez 2020? And the Presidential race is over!
Listen, I too was an idiot from time to time. Have one or two extra beers and do some dumb shit I probably shouldn't have. Last season we were the Team Of Fun. Let's be that. Certainly not this.
Meet up with The 7 Line Army at Royal Sands Social Club before heading in to the game on April 26th! This venue is located just across the street from the Center Field entrance at Nationals Park.
We had a magical run at The Playwright during the 2024 Postseason. Night after night the place was packed out with Mets fans and we witnessed some pretty incredible moments together. Watch the game here on Saturday March 29th!
