I've been hoping to snag some seats from Shea for a while now, and today thanks to the internet and The 7 Line Army that became a reality.
Let me explain. On occasion road ballparks allow a member of The 7 Line Army to toss out a ceremonial first pitch before an outing. A thank you for bringing over 1,000 fans to their ballpark. It's very nice of them to go out of their way. Especially for fans of the opposing ball club.
Since I feel it would be weird for me or someone from our staff to do the honors, we select a fan at random that happens to be cheering with us that day.
This is how I met Ben Shapiro. He hit STL with us back in 2017 and from using a "pick a random number generator", we landed on his ticket transaction.
Just anyone but Yadi! Thank you @The7Line and all those involved. Beyond pumped pic.twitter.com/z0Cc8ghqvZ

1,000 strong in STL this past summer with @The7LineArmy, and @Mets fan @Bshapiro91 tossed out a ceremonial first pitch. Thanks, @Cardinals. #MetsMoments2017 (📸: @KillDrea) pic.twitter.com/5o5TK37UgU

Fast forward a couple years. I was in the process of getting The 7 Line truck in order, and I have hopes to expand Orange And Blue Thing's "From The Seats" segment. The idea would be to conduct some interviews from Shea Stadium seats outside the truck when we don't happen to conduct the interviews from inside Citi Field. So "From The Seats" can be pretty much anywhere.
There are no shortage of Shea seats up for grabs around the internet, but I wanted there to be something a little extra special to the ones we get. A personal touch or connection if you will. Here's where Ben comes in yet again.
I got two sets of two from the mezzanine that are connected. I gotta be honest they’re just wasting away in storage. Let me know if interested I’m sure we can work something out.

I swung by today to do the pick up, and I couldn't be more excited about the story behind these seats we ended up with. Ben and his family were season ticket holders at Shea, and had the option to purchase their set of 4 when the ballpark was being torn down. They kept 2, and hooked us up with the other 2. Extremely generous to say the least.
The universe is pretty crazy, and it's wild how some things just end up working out. THANK YOU BEN!

We'll be spending Opening Weekend in Houston! Hopefully you'll be one of the 1,300 Mets fans kicking the season off with us in Texas! The Astros didn't have enough availability to fit us for Opening Day, so we locked up 1,300 tickets to game 2 of the season on March 29th.
