As you've heard, the Mets are finally retiring Keith Hernandez's uniform number.
On July 9th 2022, 17 will rise high above left field with the rest of the Orange and Blue legends that were honored before him.
Having your number retired is the ultimate honor a team can give you, and it's a long time coming for Keith. Steve and Alex Cohen are quickly righting many wrongs with this organization we love.
As luck would have it, The 7 Line Army already had an outing planned for July 9th. Funny when that works out, huh? Our season ticket members are automatically in, and the remaining seats (less than 300) will go up around 2 months or so before the game.
Back in September of 2007, I was at the Mets vs Phillies matchup when mustaches were handed out at Shea to honor Keith's famous facial hair. My memory was hazy on why it actually went down, but thanks to SNY and YouTube, here it is:
Let's not talk about how that month of September ended. It will forever haunt my dreams. But for this night at Shea look how much damn fun this was:
Yes, that's KB's son.
I'd love to recreate this level of fun on July 9th.
If the Mets are down, and our budget allows, I'll make them for the entire ballpark. If not, at the very least, 1,000 for T7LA in center field.

We'll be spending Opening Weekend in Houston! Hopefully you'll be one of the 1,300 Mets fans kicking the season off with us in Texas! The Astros didn't have enough availability to fit us for Opening Day, so we locked up 1,300 tickets to game 2 of the season on March 29th.
