We heard some very unfortunate news, and we felt that we had to share it with the rest of the Mets fan community. Hector Vargas passed away Thursday near his home in North Carolina. He leaves behind a wife and two young children. It appears Hector was on his way to work, and was involved in a car accident.
While Hector wasn't able to get to Citi Field as much as he'd have liked, he was an extremely loyal member of The 7 Line Army. Hector transplanted from NY to NC, and traveled the country with us on numerous occasions.
Whether it was Chicago in 2013 or St Louis in 2017, Hector cheered with us in good times and bad. Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Spring Training, and more.
From wearing a Batman mask at work on Harvey Days, to spraying champagne in his yard after the NL Pennant in 2015, Hector constantly spread the word of the Mets down in North Carolina. Not to mention, he did an awesome job of passing the fandom off to his children. It was always a pleasure to catch up and see the Vargas family at T7LA outings.
It's a @The7LineArmy invasion! Today in Pittsburgh over 1,000 #Mets fans have made the trip to root on their team! pic.twitter.com/mLRqd3si6y

Our hearts go out to his family and friends.
Way too soon. RIP, Hector.
