Much like building up the confidence to ask the prettiest girl to prom, sometimes you just gotta shoot your shot. In this case, it was a Twitter exchange between a Mets fan studying abroad for the semester and Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza.
WHAT!?!? Imagine getting this reply? Requests like this go out all day, but most would expect crickets in return. Uh, yeah, Mike. She'll be there....
Would love to, can you come by our office?— Mike Piazza (@mikepiazza31) March 19, 2018
We would ABSOLUTELY stop by the office!! When are you available? Thank you Mr. Piazza!!— ciara ✨ (@CiaraB430) March 19, 2018
Via Mogadiscio, 1 42124 Reggio Emilia is our office address, can you guys come by about 12:30?— Mike Piazza (@mikepiazza31) March 20, 2018
My dreams just came to life. I just met the most humble MIKE PIAZZA in Reggio Emilia, Italy at his soccer team’s office. A surreal hero experience for sure. Never thought this would come true. Thank you Mike!! 💙🧡 He even talked to my uncle in NY on FT who couldn't be here. pic.twitter.com/HaOOZ0QI55— ciara ✨ (@CiaraB430) March 20, 2018
Unbelievable. Mike goes above and beyond for his fans, and what was a blip on his radar, turned in to a lifelong memory for Ciara and her family.
As luck would have it, Ciara is the niece of my buddy Rob Savage. She brought along his 2017 T7LA jersey in hopes this encounter may come true. Not only did Mike sign it, Rob was the lucky guy on the other end of a Facetime call.
You're the man, Mike.
Come out to our tailgate party on June 18th before the Mets take on the Marlins at Citi Field. The game starts at 4:10pm which is perfect for a pre-game meet up. Swing by to see some friends, maybe meet some new ones, and responsibly wash down a couple cold ones.
