It’s second nature for Mets fans to be pessimistic about the team. After all we’ve been through, it’s hard not to be. There’s been no shortage of incompetence that has surrounded this franchise like a black cloud for years.
Enter Brodie Van Wagenen.
From Day 1, Brodie has been oozing with confidence. He has a swagger about him that hasn’t been around the Mets in quite a while. Regardless of how we feel about personnel decisions, he’s like the Teflon Don with how he handles the media in his sharp suits, fresh cuts, and strong conviction behind his messaging.
On Wednesday, he didn’t mince words when alluding that the Mets are the team to beat. “Come get us” is a line that will now be associated with the 2019 Mets.

I’d be more in line with those comments after signing Bryce Harper or Manny Machado, but I still love the bravado Brodie is carrying around. The NY Post took a jab at Brodie’s slight at Harper with Thursday’s back page cover. Look, I’m 100% behind signing Harper. I don’t know how Brodie ultimately feels about him. I do know that any smart businessman wouldn’t reveal their strategy openly, especially to the NY media.
Just like the Don of old, the papers can’t get enough of the Mets new leader.

One thing is for sure, Brodie’s swagger isn’t going anywhere, with or without Harper. Brodie can talk the talk, soon we’ll find out if the team he’s put together can walk the walk. If not, he’ll have a short-lived reign.
Ya gotta believe… in Brodie.
Your eyes do not deceive you, we don't have any available Mets 2024 Postseason merch. It's not that we don't have designs ready to go, we just aren't allowed to release them for another 2 weeks. Fanatics gets an exclusive 2 week window on licensed merch.
