Game 162 is in the books, and if you're a Mets fan, you know how much Keith Hernandez values his leisure. His sighs of disgust all season over misplays and extra innings are what makes Keith who he is, and Mets fans love it. After this dumpster fire of a season, one would think he'd be running for the Hamptons.
Not so fast.
When Gary and Keith were signing off during the end of the broadcast yesterday, they had a cryptic message for the fans.
"Stay tuned tomorrow. Keep your ears up. He's an important guy," said Gary.
With Terry out the door, some probably wish Keith was ready fill his shoes. We all know his games would never go to extras, and the post game interviews after Tommy Malone gets hit tits lit would be gold.
Holy crap. Keith Hernandez will be announced as the new Mets manager tomorrow. https://t.co/vVATvcRZe8

Hundreds of people didn't get the sarcasm and thought this was true. Sorry guys. Although, it would be awesome. Keith won't be the Mets skipper any time soon. That announcement should be right around the corner through.
The real news...
Keith Hernandez to join Fox Sports for MLB playoff studio coverage https://t.co/xlAhtcbcVb

This makes total sense, and the offer must've been pretty lucrative to get Keith to work past his regular season commitment. FOX canned Pete Rose, and Keith will be taking his spot at the table.
This also means that half of of the dynamic SNY squad of old will be back together, if even just for this fall. After the 2014 season, Kevin Burkhardt left SNY for FOX, and is the only non-player talent on the FOX playoff studio coverage broadcast. This will be really fun to watch.
If the baseball world doesn't already love Keith as much as we do, they will after this. I'm really looking forward to watching competitive baseball again, and I'm sure Keith will help set the pace.
We're heading back to Port Saint Lucie to kick off the 2025 season! Join The 7 Line Army on Saturday, February 22nd to watch the New York Mets take on the Houston Astros at Clover Park for Spring Training Opening Day.
