If I was a die hard Rangers fan, little things like this would get me fired up for the Winter Classic at Citi Field. I still haven't decided if I'm gonna go or not, but may pull the trigger at the last minute. Wifey wants to, so we might end up making it happen. If anyone has suite tickets they wanna part with, hit me up.
Henrik Lundqvist, who is known as the King, just posted this photo of his sweet custom pads for the game. A mash up of the Mets and Rangers logos in the grey/navy/red colorway. The business man in me instantly thinks about if this is even legal, but I'm sure with the magnitude of this game and all the eyes on it, they probably got the clearance.
Side note: I pretty much decided yesterday that I was going to try to be an Islanders fan. I've root for the Rangers in the past, but never really dove in. Hit some games here and there, but never claimed a serious allegiance or owned a jersey. Sitting alongside Brian Erni on Orange and Blue Thing, a huge Islanders fan, has been rubbing off on me and some of the supporters sections have already reached out to join. Tailgating and group cheering is really fun. I think I'm in. I said to my wife last night that the Rangers feel very Yankees. Not sure if that's a fair comparison, but I wanna be out there with the people, not the suits.
Anyway, good luck to the Rangers and Sabres. Should be a fun New Years Day out there at Citi. If I do show up, I'll be the guy not caring about the score, but crushing Mikkeller's special release all day.
We're extremely saddened to hear that Rizky "Riz" Ridwan has passed. Riz was always a friendly face in the crowd and started cheering with The 7 Line Army a decade ago during the 2014 season. He hit San Francisco with us that year along with some games at Citi Field.
